If you like running with your dog, you might like Canicross (running cross country while being pulled by your dog). The dog runs in front of you in a harness connected to your waist belt via a towline. By pulling on the towline, the dog actually makes your running easier!

Although competition Canicross is a dog related sport best known in the UK and Europe, everyday Canicross is now gaining popularity here in the United States because enthusiasts who engage in winter sports such as sledding and skijoring, are finding it a great way to exercise and train their dogs during the off season. Runners also like it because they enjoy running with their buddy.

On the other hand, if you don't like to run, you can easily use this exercise equipment in the traditional manner for walking, or jogging with your dog hands-free. The lead attaches securely to your waist belt so you can have your dog out front Canicross style, or at your side. (If you are exercising multiple dogs at once, it is best to have only one lead dog out front.)

You can also take advantage of this system for hiking, allowing you to tap into some of that dog power for assistance.
